Most people choose to see the
site (daily 6am-5.30pm; US$5 or equivalent in rupiah) on a day-trip from Yogya. Plenty of agencies offer
all-inclusive tours , or you can catch one of the regular buses from Yogya's Umbulharjo station, which calls in at Jomber terminal (handy for Jalan Sosro; bus #5) before heading off to Borobudur village bus station (90min; Rp2000), though you may have to change one more time in Muntilan. The entrance to the temple lies 500m southwest of the bus stop.
The most popular budget accommodation in the village is the Lotus Guesthouse at Jl Medang Kamulan 2 (tel 0293/88281; under $5), opposite the entrance to Borobudur park, but rooms are awful and beds filthy. Though it looks scruffier, Losmen Borobudur, on the road that runs alongside the eastern edge of the temple grounds, at Jl Pramudya 1 (tel 0293/88258; under $5), is cleaner and better value. Round the back of the temple, the Manohara (tel 0293/788680; $40-60) is by a long way the plushest place in town, and the room charge includes breakfast and the entrance fee into Borobudur.
