Bakauheni And Ferries To Java

Around 30km south of Kalianda, lies Bakauheni , the departure point for ferries to Merak, on Java's northwest tip. There's no reason to stay in Bakauheni itself. The town is served by regular buses from Rajabasa terminal and Panjang terminal in Bandar Lampung, and by bemos from Kalianda. There's also a 24hr wartel and a couple of shops. Ferries from Bakauheni operate round the clock for the two-and-a-half-hour crossing to Merak, leaving every thirty minutes during the day and less frequently at night. High-speed ferries also depart hourly from 7.40am to 5pm (40min).
