Medan has its own style of alfresco eating , where a bunch of stall-owners gather in one place, chairs are put out, and a waitress brings a menu listing the food available from each of the stalls. The best of these is the Taman Rekreasi Seri Deli, which encircles the small pond to the north of Mesjid Raya. Amongst the many Western-style bakers in town are the French Baker at Jl Pemuda 24c, and three on Jalan Tuama opposite the northern end of Jalan Cik Ditiro: the Tahiti, Suans (which does good ice cream) and the Royal Holland.
